Wingz Driver Safety Monitoring
At Wingz, safety is our top priority. We utilize real-time monitoring technology to monitor unsafe driving behaviors to ensure the safety and comfort of both our passengers and drivers. It's important to understand what we monitor and how it impacts your driving performance, as consistent safety issues can have serious consequences.
1) Hard Braking:
Hard braking events are indicators of potential collisions and unexpected changes in speed. These events occur when there is a reduction in speed of 7 mph or more within one second. For passengers, hard braking can be jarring and unsettling.
Tips for Driver Improvement:
- Increase the distance between you and the car in front to maintain a gap of at least 2 seconds.
- Minimize distractions by stowing your phone in the glove box.
- Maintain focus on the road by regularly checking all mirrors every 10 seconds.
2) Aggressive Acceleration:
Aggressive acceleration events occur when there is a rapid increase in speed, often making passengers feel like they're in a race car. This is flagged when there's an increase in speed of 7 mph or more within one second.
Tips for Driver Improvement:
- Check for traffic before accelerating through intersections.
- Adjust your foot position to maintain smoother acceleration.
3) Excessive Speeding:
Excessive speeding events are recorded when a vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit by a significant margin. This is flagged when the vehicle exceeds the speed limit by at least 5 mph at speeds of 30 mph or less, and by 10 mph at speeds of 35 mph or faster.
Tips for Driver Improvement:
- Pay close attention to posted speed limits, especially in school or construction zones.
- Reduce speed appropriately on freeways and ramps.
4) Risky Phone Use:
Phone use while driving, such as texting, dialing, or handling the phone, is considered risky behavior. Phone use events are recorded if the interaction lasts longer than 3 seconds and the vehicle is traveling at least 11 mph. Mounted phones that comply with hands-free laws are exempt from these events.
Tips for Driver Improvement:
- Set your destination in the navigation system before departing for trips.
- Keep your phone securely mounted throughout the entire journey.
Consequences of Consistent Safety Issues:
It's important to note that consistent safety issues flagged by our Fairmatic system can lead to suspensions and deactivations of driver accounts. We take safety very seriously, and repeated violations of safety standards put both our passengers and drivers at risk.
By being aware of these monitored behaviors and implementing the suggested improvements, you can contribute to a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Thank you for your commitment to safety and professionalism as a Wingz driver.
