Proof of Driving History: What Counts and Why We Ask For It
To qualify as a driver on the Wingz platform, applicants must be able to show at least 3 years of driving experience. If your current driver's license was issued less than 3 years ago, we can't confirm that experience from the license alone — so we'll ask you for an additional document that shows your driving history further back.
| Why this matters: A standard Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) only reflects history under your current license. If that license is newer than 3 years, we need a separate document to verify you've been driving that long. This is a background check requirement and applies before you can move forward to that stage of onboarding. |
Accepted forms of Proof of Driving History
Any one of the documents below is sufficient. You only need to provide one, not all seven.
1 |
Driving abstract from your current state DMV Requested directly by you as the applicant. Personal record requests usually reach back further than the standard MVR pulled during background checks. |
2 |
Driving abstract from a prior state of licensure If you held a license in another state before your current one, most DMVs will still issue a record even after a license has been surrendered. |
3 |
Letter of experience from your personal auto insurer Shows the years you've been listed as a rated driver, plus claims history. Every carrier issues this, and it's one of the strongest documents for this purpose. |
4 |
Expired physical license(s) from prior years An older, expired license showing an earlier issue date can help establish driving history predating your current license. |
5 |
Prior employer letter confirming a driving role A letter from a past employer confirming you held a role that required driving, including the dates of that employment. |
6 |
TNC or delivery platform records Records from another rideshare or delivery platform showing your account creation date and trip history. |
7 |
Vehicle registration or title history Old or current vehicle registration/title showing a date more than 3 years back can help support your driving history. |
How the process works
1 |
During review, our team checks the issue date on your driver's license. If it's less than 3 years old, we'll flag your account and reach out requesting a Proof of Driving History document. |
2 |
You can submit any one of the documents listed above. |
3 |
Our onboarding team will confirm receipt and attach it to your file. |
4 |
Once your Proof of Driving History is on file, your application can proceed to the background check stage. |
